The incident began on Saturday, Oct. 21, when a police officer attempted to pull over a vehicle near Westchester County Airport and the driver refused to stop, according to the county's police department.

Soon after this, the car crashed on the entrance ramp to I-684 northbound in Harrison near the airport. The four occupants then got out of the car and ran into the woods in an attempt to flee police, authorities said.

Officers from several different agencies soon arrived to help with the pursuit and establish a perimeter while Westchester County Police Sgt. Hicks and his K9 partner, Madison, conducted a track.

Thanks to the help of Madison's trusty nose, the four suspects were soon sniffed out west of I-684 next to a reservoir. Once they were spotted, a boat deployed by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police Department made sure the foursome had no route of escape, police said.

The four suspects, who were not identified and ranged in age from 16 to 18, were all charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony.
